Only use taxis at authorized taxi stands.  Refuse offers for transportation from "helpful strangers." They could be illegal operators.

Note the taxi cab number (located on the side of the taxi), the driver's license
number (located on the dashboard). If you have any problems, call the Taxi and
Limousine Commission of the city regulating cabs serving your terminal.

Taxis serving Terminal A are licensed by the City of Elizabeth, and those serving
Terminals B and C are licensed by the City of Newark.


Always ask the taxicab driver for a receipt showing:

a.driver's name 
b.driver's I.D. Number
c.cab company name and number, and 
d.the amount paid. 

Elizabeth and Newark licensed taxicabs determine fares by flat rates. Passengers
should establish a fare before departure from the taxicab stand. The dispatcher is
equipped with a taxi- cab rate schedule.

All cabs are required to take the most direct route to their destinations.

THE FOLLOWING ARE APPROXIMATE TAXI FARES.
(Tip and tolls not included): 

From downtown Newark area Airport Terminals Flat fare $10.00 (All other zones within the city are metered.)  Airport terminals City of Newark Flat fares range from $11.00 to $15.00 determined by zone.  Airport Terminals anywhere in the Airport Flat fare $9.00. 

Newark International Airport Downtown and Midtown (West side of 5th Avenue between 14th-185th Streets) Manhattan. Flat fares range from $34.00 to $51.00 determined by zone plus tolls. (For the east side of mid-Manhattan, additional charge $4.00).  

Newark International Airport J.F. Kennedy International
Flat fare $60.00 plus toll. $7 Verrazano Bridge toll must be paid by passenger for driver's return trip.  Newark International Airport LaGuardia Airport flat fare $50.00 plus toll. 

One fare pays for all passengers to the same destination.
There is a $1.00 charge for each piece of luggage over 24 inches (60 cm).
